Receiving

A job offer

Confirming your acceptance guarantees the job is yours. Usually there are other candidates in the process at this point so ensure you are committed and respond quickly to job offers.
If you are unsure about something in the position description, role review, interview or employment contract, don't be afraid to ask. It is a positive reflection and the prospective employer will appreciate that you have reviewed the documentation and have the confidence to ask questions.
Depending on your situation this can be a tough decision. Before you make the call and do something you might regret it sometimes helps to do a "Pro's and Con's" list to help you get to the final decision. At the end of the day its your decision and you will have to live with the outcome. Remember the grass is not always greener on the other side.
You may be presented with counter offers if you do decide to resign. A couple of questions you may ask yourself if your current employer does make a counter offer to match or better your new opportunity is "why didn't you do this for me earlier, why wait until I resign to show me I am valuable to the business?" Again this is your decision and you may be happy to accept the counter offer and stay with your current employer. It is good form to let the prospective employer know as soon as possible so they can look for another candidate to fill their role.
